Indonesia has emerged as a coveted tourist destination for those seeking out a tropical vacation, replete with sandy beaches and warm sunny days; cool, pleasant nights and tranquil, serene settings. The beach towns of Lombok, such as Senggigi, are especially a hit with holiday makers and globetrotters as they present the vacationers with the perfect opportunity to spend languid days and blissful nights amidst an exotic culture and simple natives. Tourists to Lombok, however, need to follow a few basic guidelines to ensure that they remain in excellent health throughout their trip and thus make it a happy and memorable experience.

Before a trip to Lombok, it is advisable to consult a physician about the necessary inoculations and vaccinations. The visa requirement may specify some of these and your doctor may prescribe others. Malaria is known to occur in the tropical region. It is therefore advisable to carry malaria medication. However, prevention is indeed better than cure. Mosquito repellent creams and nets come in handy on a trip to Lombok.

To guard against Travelers’ Diarrhea, it is advisable to drink packaged water and avoid food left in the open or from unhygienic roadside stalls. Tourists to Lombok may also consider taking appropriate precautions and protect themselves from Dengue and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever.

The consulates and embassies are of great help with information regarding inoculation requirements on your trip to Lombok. Your tourist operator may also provide you adequate information. Some countries advise their nationals to acquire yellow fever vaccination before they leave on their trip to Lombok.

Sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV are on the rise in tropical countries. Tourists need to take adequate precautions. Patients requiring constant medications may well carry their medicines for the entire trip as the require drugs may not be available in Lombok.

The health and hospital facilities are good and well trained doctors available on hand. Most good hotels offer a 24 hour doctor-on-call service, though tourists keeping feeble health may need to ensure that their hotel provides such a service before checking in.
