Mount Rinjani, Palace of the goddess
Every year a huge number of people visit Lombok only to experience
this thrilling adventure on the slopes of Rinjani. As one of main
attraction in Lombok Island, Mount Rinjani with its forested slopes
and an exotic flora and fauna is one of the trekker’s favourites.
Trekking is a challenging task in Mount Rinjani, it takes about
three days two nights to reach the summit and come down. With is
3,726 m high from sea level, Mount Rinjani become the second highest
mountain in Indonesia.
Mount Rinjani is a part of the Rinjani National Park that covers the
area of 41,330 ha, with 51,500 ha area of surrounding protected
forests. The Rinjani National Park is a favourite stop for the
tourists where you will be bringing into the natural wonders and
will reawaken your love of nature and adventure.
On the west cone of the mountain there is caldera with the size
about 3,500 m X 4,800 m longways from the east to the west. In the
Caldera there is a Segara Anak Lake, covers the area of 1,156 ha
with 300 m in maximum depth. The Crater Lake Segara Anak on the
summit (2000m high from the sea level) is a destination of umpteen
pilgrims who offer prayers to the lake and take dip in the hot
springs to cure away their diseases. Water flows from the lake
through the cliff perform very beautiful water falls at the end.
There are a lot of fish inside the Segara Anak Lake, where the
trackers can fishing there.
Mean while on the east side of caldera there is Barujari Mount
(Gunung Barujari), that have crater with the size 170m X 200m and
2,376m high from sea level. The last eruption on this small mountain
happens on May 2nd 2009 and before that happen in 2004. Barujari in
local language (sasak language) it mean “just created” and ever
recorded before eruptions in 1944, 1966 and 1994. The eruption in
1944 is also that create this mountain.
Among others mountains in Indonesia, Rinjani can be said has the
best scenery. Average temperature is 20° C with the minimum
temperature 12° C. High wind usually happen on August.

Senaru – Plawangan Senaru (Crater Rim) – Senaru (2D / 1N)
Day 1
- We pick you up from the hotel at 5.30 am, meet with our guide and
together we go by car to Senaru village and register at the Rinjani
Trek Centre (RTC).
- You will be briefing and describes the local cultural traditions,
route details, rubbish management and most important the safety
procedures by our guide.
- In the first hours on the way to Pos 1, we will through thick
tropical forest that so rich in flora, varieties birds and
butterflies.
- From Pos 1 the journey continue to Pos 2 and some rest are taken
along the way
- At Pos 2 on Montong Satas shelter (1,500m). We will stop for rest
and lunch will be served there.
- We will continue climb about 500 meters up to Pos 3 at Mondokan
Lolak and the night’s camp is made either in the forest.
- All the journeys to the Pos 3 from Senaru take around six to seven
hours of climb.
Day 2
- At 5am early in the morning the ascent for another couple of hours
through the meadows to Plawangan Senaru crater rim at 2,641m above sea
level, we can see amazing scenery across the Segara Anak Lake, Mt.
Barujari to the summit of Mt. Rinjani. Mt. Barujari is an active
volcano, last erupting in …. 2009.
- Also from Plawangan Senaru crater rim a memorable view will come when the
sun come out behind the summit of Mt. Rinjani sunrise likes. On a
clear morning the Bali Island and Mt. Agung can be seen too.
- After enjoying the view, we will descend down to Pos 3 for
breakfast.
- From the Pos 3 to Pos 2 we will through the tropical forest while
enjoying the sound of chirp from the birds, see the Lutung (black or
gray long tail monkey) and some times we can see butterflies. Lunch
will be served on Pos 2 or Pos 1 if descend earlier and continue
down to start point at the Senaru village.
- It takes five to six hours from Plawangan Senaru to Senaru villages.
- Finaly we transfer you back to the Hotel / Guest house.
Sembalun – Plawangan Sembalun (Crater Rim) – Top – Sembalun (2D/ 1N)
Day 1
- We pick you up from the hotel at 5.30 am, meet with our guide and
together we go by car to Sembalun village and register at the
Rinjani Trek Centre (RTC).
- You will be briefing and describes the local cultural traditions,
route details, rubbish management and most important the safety
procedures by our guide.
- We start slowly ascent walking through open grassy knoll used as
cattle grazing by local people.
- Resting for a moment at Pos 1 at Pemantauan and continue to Pos 2
Tengengean, that’s two and half hours journey. From there we can
enjoy the beautiful views of Mt. Rinjani summit.
- After another hours ascent to Pos 3 at Pada Balong, we start the
step climb among the Casuarina trees and some times meet bevy of
wild long tailed grey monkeys (lutung) to the camp site at Plawangan
Sembalun crater rim, it is 2,639m high above the see and that takes
around 3,5 hours.
Day 2
- A start is necessary at 03:00 am for the hard 3 hours of climb to
the summit. Once there, enjoy the satisfaction and the amazing
sunrise and spectacular views of the Wallace Line to Bali, Mt. Agung
and Sumbawa, going down to the campsite at Plawangan Sembalun crater
rim.
- Go back Pelawangan Sembalun and breakfast will serve there. After
that with the gentle descend walking and trough among Casuarina
trees and some times meet bevy of wild long-tailed grey monkeys
(lutung) until we arrive on Pos 3, get rest and lunch will serve
there. It Takes 2 hours.
- From Pos 3 to Pos 2 and finally we will arrive on Sembalun
village. The journey from Pelawangan Sembalun to Sembalun village
need 5 to 6 hours.
- Our driver is ready there to transfer you back to the Hotel /
Guest house.
Senaru – lake – Senaru (3D / 2N)
Day 1
- We pick you up from the hotel at 5.30 am, meet with our guide and
together we go by car to Senaru village and register at the Rinjani
Trek Centre (RTC).

route details, rubbish management and most important the safety
procedures by our guide.
- In the first hours on the way to Pos 1, we will through thick

become challenging and amazing adventure on the way down to the
lake. After 2 or 3 hours you will be arrive at the Segara anak Lake.
Camp is made there and while enjoy the view lunch will be serve.
- Activities like swimming, fishing or you can submerged your body
to the natural hot spring pools at the edge of Segara Anak Lake. You
can also see Mt. Barujari that’s located in the middle of the Lake
from close distance. That’s will be memorable view.
Day 3
- After spend a night camp at the side of Segara Anak Lake, around
7am, we will start to ascent up to Pelawangan Senaru.
- And from Pelawangan Senaru continue to Pos 3 and get some rest and
continue to Pos 2.
- From the Pos 3 to Pos 2 we will through the tropical forest while
enjoying the sound of chirp from the birds, see the Lutung (black or
gray long tail monkey) and some times we can see butterflies. Lunch
will be served on Pos 2.
- From Pos 2 we will continue down to our start point at the Senaru
village.
- It takes 9 to 10 hours from Segara Anak Lake to Senaru villages.
- Our driver will waiting you there to transfer you back to the
Hotel / Guest house.
Sembalun – Top – Lake – Senaru (4D / 3N)
Day 1
- We pick you up from the hotel at 5.30 am, meet with our guide and
together we go by car to Sembalun village and register at the
Rinjani Trek Centre (RTC).
- You will be briefing and describes the local cultural traditions,
route details, rubbish management and most important the safety
procedures by our guide.
- We start slowly ascent walking through open grassy knoll used as
cattle grazing by local people.
- Resting for a moment at Pos 1 on Pemantauan and continue to Pos 2
Tengengean, that’s two and half hours journey. From there we can
enjoy the beautiful views of Mt. Rinjani summit.
- After another hours ascent to Pos 3 at Pada Balong, we start the

known as Cemara, the long-tailed grey monkeys to the camp site at
Plawangan Sembalun crater rim, it is 2,639m high above the see.

hot spring pools at the edge of Segara Anak Lake. You can also see
Mt. Barujari that’s located in the middle of the Lake from close
distance. That’s will be memorable view.
- Around 4 or 5pm in the evening we will start to ascent up to
Pelawangan Senaru. Camp will made there but if you start from 2pm
camp can be made in Pos 3.
Day 4
- Start at 7am from the Pelawangan Senaru or from Pos 3 we descent
to Pos 2 and we will through the tropical forest while enjoying the
sound of chirp from the birds, see the Lutung (black or gray long
tail monkey) and some times we can see butterflies. Lunch will be
served on Pos 2.
- From Pos 2 we will continue down to the Senaru
village.
- It takes 9 to 10 hours from Segara Anak Lake to Senaru villages.
- Our driver will waiting you there to transfer you back to the
Hotel / Guest house.
